Providing pediatric ophthalmologic surgeries to children in Colombia since 2024

About Us

We are an all volunteer group of board certified pediatric ophthalmologists and anesthesiologists, nurses and technologists based out of Chicago. The need for eye surgery is great in Colombia. As is the case for the orthopedic trip, a child would have to wait approximately four years to be seen by a specialist.

To help these underserved children, we created a new branch of The Silver Service Children’s Foundation in 2024. Our first mission went so well that we felt we could have a greater impact with a larger surgical team.

Our Next Trip

Our next trip is scheduled for January 2026. We will be working alongside our Colombian pediatric and general ophthalmologists. These team members take care of the children in-between our trips. We hope to do twice as many surgeries as we were able to do last time.

Donations

Because we rely entirely on donations, we are asking for your help. We need to purchase enough equipment, medications, anesthesia and surgical supplies, and most importantly eye surgical instrumentation to treat 40 children.

We perform these surgeries at the same optimum level of care that we give here. We provide these surgeries at absolutely no cost to the families. Minimum wage in Colombia is approximately $323 per month, and the majority of these families cannot afford insurance. They depend on us to help their child see clearly.
