Exciting Updates!

We’re back from our October trip to Buga with some exciting updates!

Our team had a busy and rewarding week in Buga, Colombia Oct 21st-28th. 40+ children received life-changing surgeries and about 100 more were evaluated in our clinic. We are immensely grateful for the partnerships with Fundación Hospital San José de Buga and Casa de Colombia who enable us to provide this care, as well as to YOU our incredibly generous supporters.

In other exciting news…

It's official! We have created an official new branch of the Silver Service Children's Foundation! We are going to Buga, Colombia January 27 to February 3, 2024 to do eye surgeries. This trip will be composed of pediatric ophthalmologists, pediatric anesthesiologists, and our nursing team from Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago! We will be concentrating our efforts to help children with strabismus (crossed eyes), chalazions, blocked tear ducts, and dermoid cyst excision. 

We will coordinate with our partners, Casa de Colombia and The Fundacion Hospital San Jose de Buga. Because this is a new endeavor, we are very much in need of donations.  We are working on creating a QR donation code specifically for the eye trip. Until then, donations can be sent by Zelle to Marjorie Sasso Burke 847-732-3646. Please specify eye trip on the memo line. 

Friends in Colombia, please have anyone with a child needing an eye procedure contact Casa de Colombia. We hope to help as many children as we can this first trip and plan to do this each year.
